Why do I want to do this???
I have been wanting to build a car for quite a while. Back in High School I built a 1971 SS 454 Chevvel into a great car but had to sell it for tuition (I know, it still works - and in case you were wondering…. $2800). I am completely Obsessive Compulsive with my hobbies and this should help with the project! LOL
I started looking and found a 1967 Camaro that was on life support. As I started digging into the thing I realized that 75% of it will have to be replaced. It long ago lost its 327 and had a tired 350 and a powerglide in its place. I was going to go the Pro Touring route but my Father-in-Law had a great idea. Why not do a Yenko tribute car? Hey, it can’t hurt the car’s value right?
The original car was Bolero red with a red interior. I will certainly keep the paint but the red interior (which is all missing) will be black. Red interiors make me want to have a siezure! The engine will be a date coded 427 (Ouch! This is the same motor that the vette guys search for) and I will convert to an M21 4 speed, 12 bolt posi rear end and SS emblems as well.
So follow along as I do this thing. The first few blogs will be roughly the same dates while I provide a history lesson so read on and let me know what ya think throughout the project!
